IWI Masada Slim Commander Elite

Review: IWI Masada Slim Commander Elite – A Carry Pistol That Outperforms Its Size

When it comes to compact, everyday carry pistols, there are plenty of options vying for your attention. Few, however, manage to combine slim concealability with true range-ready performance. The IWI Masada Slim Commander Elite does just that — and after running over 300 rounds of varied 9 mm ammunition through it, it proves it’s more than just another “micro” striker-fired pistol.

Built for Real-World Carry

The Commander Elite centers on a 3.4″ button-rifled barrel mated to a 7075-aluminum grip module finished in durable black nitride. At just 27.0 oz unloaded (36.1 oz with a 13-round mag, or roughly 38 oz with the 17-round extension), it brings recoil-soaking weight without tipping into brick territory. Front and rear slide serrations offer positive purchase for press-checks or stress-rack manipulations, while aggressive G10 grip panels and an undercut beavertail lock your hand in place during rapid strings.

Slim, Optics-Ready Design

Factory-machined with an RMSc Shield cut, the Masada Slim Commander Elite accepts mini-red dots like the Holosun EPS Carry without modification. Stock white-dot front and blackout rear irons provide basic co-witness, and standard dovetails let you swap in taller tritium or fiber-optic sights. A factory-installed Picatinny-style rail handles lights such as the Streamlight TLR-7X Sub with a rock-solid fit, and the flared magazine well smooths out reloads for both flush-fit and extended magazines.

Reliability Across the Spectrum

IWI’s refined extended feed ramp proved its worth running everything from budget steel-case FMJ to premium hollow-points. In over 300 rounds across multiple sessions, there were zero failures to feed, fire, or eject — even when simulating limp-wrist scenarios. The crisp ~3.5 lb trigger break with a super-short tactile reset keeps follow-up shots snappy and confidence high during drills.

Concealment and Ergonomics

Measuring 6.25″ overall, 4.88″ tall, and just over 1″ wide, the Commander Elite conceals easily AIWB or in a compact holster with minimal printing. The textured grip panels and under-bevel allow a high-ride hold, keeping the muzzle flat and reducing muzzle flip. After a week of daily carry, the nitride finish showed no holster wear or brass wash.

Final Thoughts

The IWI Masada Slim Commander Elite bridges the gap between micro-carry convenience and full-sized range performance. With its optics-ready slide, first-class ergonomics, reliable cycling, and adaptable magazine options, it’s a compelling choice for anyone seeking a true all-around EDC pistol.
