After spending hours on the range with the Daniel Defense H9, I sent it back to the factory to see if those nagging issues could be ironed out. In my latest video, I cover the full return-and-test cycle: Did Daniel Defense manage to fix the failures-to-feed, the slide-lock problems, and the missing optic plate? Or is this pistol still a work in progress?
What Happened on Return
Once the H9 arrived at the Daniel Defense service center, they performed a full inspection, replaced the extractor and guide rods, and installed the proper optic adapter plate before sending it back. They also updated the recoil spring assembly to tighter tolerances and confirmed magazine catch tension was within spec.
Range Testing the “Fixed” H9
Back on the firing line, I ran the same drill as before—hundreds of rounds through a variety of factory 9mm loads and multiple magazines. Here’s what I found:
Verdict
Daniel Defense delivered on their promise. The returned H9 now runs flawlessly—proof that the underlying design was sound, and that the early issues were service-correctable rather than inherent. Ergonomics, trigger feel, and that eye-catching retro-futuristic styling remain as good as ever.
