Blackbeard X

Welcome back to the channel, everyone! RazorMP here, and today we’re stepping away from traditional firearms for a moment to review something a bit different—the Mantis BlackbeardX Dry Fire Training System.

Before we dive in, a huge thank you to all my channel members and subscribers—your continued support is invaluable. And as always, shout-out to Scottsdale Tactical for their ongoing partnership.

For transparency, I want to mention that I am an affiliate with Mantis and may receive a small commission if you purchase through my affiliate links. I chose to become an affiliate because I genuinely believe in this system and how effective it is in helping shooters identify and address their training shortfalls.

So, let’s talk about what this thing actually is. The Mantis BlackbeardX combines two trusted systems—the original Blackbeard auto-reset trigger and the MantisX motion analysis platform—into one compact, efficient training tool. What really sets it apart is the advanced motion-based feedback it provides, especially during fast-paced, multi-target drills. This isn’t just a dry fire trainer—it’s a smart trainer that gives you real-time data to work with.

Now, let me give you a bit of background. I started my military career in the infantry and later transitioned to the Military Police. Eventually, I was assigned as a Drill Sergeant, and as most of you know, that means I became a primary trainer for new recruits—especially in basic rifle marksmanship. We leaned heavily on dry fire fundamentals like the dime and washer drill, where you balance a coin on the barrel while pulling the trigger, and the shadow box drill, where you have a buddy 25 yards downrange marking your target when you call the shot.

Later, I was introduced to one of the first digital dry fire systems we had in the Army—the Engagement Skills Trainer, or EST. It was a laser-based system that showed instructors where a shot would have landed based on aim and movement. That system was a game-changer. It let us train fundamentals in a low-stress environment, with normal conversation and no wasted ammo. While it didn’t simulate real bullet trajectory, since it used a straight-line laser, it still provided incredibly valuable feedback.

Fast forward to today, and we’ve got something even more compact and accessible. The BlackbeardX is designed for AR-15s, AR-10s, and even Sig Sauer MCX platforms—the same setup that’s becoming standard issue in the Army. Installation is quick and simple, and once it’s in, the system pairs seamlessly with the MantisX app via Bluetooth. From there, you unlock a growing list of drills and performance courses that adjust to your skill level. And as soon as the BlackbeardX is connected, it even unlocks additional drills within the app, giving you more value over time.

When it comes to performance feedback, the BlackbeardX focuses on three key areas. First, it measures your on-target delay, which helps reduce hesitation once your sights are lined up. Second, it evaluates your over-travel, meaning how far you overshoot your intended target during transitions—super helpful if you're working on speed. And third, it tracks the efficiency of your movement between targets, helping you find the most direct and effective path. All of this combines to help you become smoother, faster, and more precise with your shooting.

Another big bonus is the ability to track your progress over time. You can compare sessions, use heat maps to visualize movement patterns, and review shot-by-shot breakdowns that highlight exactly where you can shave time off your transitions. And everything’s customizable, so you can adjust the difficulty or focus based on where you're at in your training journey.

At around $319, it might feel like an investment, but it’s one that pays for itself quickly. It’s already in use by the Marine Corps, the Army, and Special Forces, which says a lot about its credibility and performance. And considering how quickly you can burn through $300 worth of ammo—especially in calibers like 300 Blackout—the BlackbeardX gives you the ability to train every single day without ever leaving your house.

Even though this is a dry-fire system, all of the demonstration footage I show is captured in a controlled environment, following strict firearm safety protocols and YouTube’s community guidelines. Safety always comes first—whether it’s live ammo or dry fire.

As always, I’ll see you on the high ground—or in the next video. RazorMP out.
