Quick look at the MagPul RXM grip modification, fit, and handling notes.

The Ruger RXM is already a solid, practical pistol, but today I’m looking at one of the simplest ways to change how it feels in the hand and how it runs at speed: the Magpul EHG RG9 grip module in the full-size configuration.
This write-up is the companion to my RXM Magpul EHG RG9 video. The goal here is straightforward, what does this grip module actually change, who is it for, and is it worth doing if you’re trying to get more control and consistency out of the RXM without buying a whole new gun.
First, the concept. The EHG RG9 full-size setup essentially takes the RXM from a compact feel to more of a full-size handling package. In simple terms, you’re moving away from the shorter magazine setup and into full-size G17 magazines. More grip length means more real estate for your hands, better leverage, and a more consistent purchase, especially if you’re running drills, shooting faster strings, or just want a grip that doesn’t feel like it’s trying to escape your support hand under recoil.
Ergonomics are where these kinds of mods live or die, and this one actually does a lot right. The texture is very well executed, grippy without feeling like sandpaper. Personally, I still prefer something more aggressive, but that’s a preference thing. What I do like a lot are the index points that help you lock your hands into the same position every time. That repeatability matters more than people think, because consistent grip equals consistent recoil management.
Mag release feel is another win here. It’s more pronounced and easier to hit cleanly without feeling like it’s sticking out so far that you’re going to dump a mag by accident. The trigger guard undercut is subtle, but it’s functional. It gives you that little bit of extra room to get higher on the gun, and that translates into control.
Now for the trade-offs. The biggest one is that there’s no modular backstrap support. What you see is what you get. If you’re someone who depends on swapping backstraps to fine-tune reach and palm swell, that’s something to consider. The other thing I would’ve liked to see is a true Pic rail. The current rail works, but if you’re running certain lights or you just prefer the standard, a Pic rail would’ve been the more universal choice.
Cost matters, too. This mod is sitting around 40 Scooby Snacks, and for what it changes, especially grip length and magazine compatibility, that’s a pretty strong value. If you’ve been wanting the RXM to feel more full size without committing to a different pistol, it’s a relatively low-cost way to get there.
