This is my no-BS workflow for getting cleaner red dot footage. If your dot blooms, starbursts, or vanishes, it is usually a camera setup issue, not the optic itself.
My Fast Setup Checklist
- Lock exposure manually. Auto-exposure is the biggest reason dots blow out on camera.
- Keep camera focus fixed near the target plane, then fine-tune brightness on the optic.
- Run lower dot intensity for camera capture than you use with your eyes in bright daylight.
- Use a stable mount and avoid digital zoom whenever possible.
- Record short test clips and adjust before shooting the full session.
